#6 'EVEN MUMS & KIDS'

This is IOPNA’s 6^th and final article in our ‘Missing Link’ series.

Let's aim to be as brief as we can because…ahh... pretty or funny - it aint.                  
We found that theories of evolution received instant acceptance thanks to the Church publicly endorsing the notion that geological processes took millions of years; this is now imbedded as 'fact' in educational textbooks, nature documentaries, national park signs, museums, zoo displays and...Bible colleges!...except the 'millions of years' somehow keep evolving too – just add more zeros!

 At the end of our trail, let’s now take an overview of the awful legacies of the 'theory of evolution', thanks to the way it has fostered racism and devalued the sanctity of life, besides pushing the Creator out of the picture.                                                          

Prove it...you say?                                                                                                                         
Just ask the Australian aborigines who experienced at the end of a rifle, Darwinian theory practised in the field, except you are going to have to track down over 50,000 specimens in museums world-wide that they are reluctant to release for proper burial.                                                                                                                 

No, we are not going to make scurrilous claims such as ‘all evolutionists are Nazi's or communists’. All we are going to do is look at some of the main players, hear some of what they are reported to have said and see how they ran with this theory - with appalling results: about 160 MILLION people died violently during the 20th Century thanks to war and genocide. That’s 7 times Australia’s total population wiped out violently in just one lifetime.

Herbert Spencer (1820-1903), an English philosopher presumed to write ‘Principles of Biology’ (1864) and coined the expression: ‘Survival of the fittest.’  How was this played out?

The founders of communist philosophy were Germans, Karl Heinrich Marx (1818-1883) a Jew from the Marx Levi family and Freidrich Engels (1820-1895) who jointly published their ‘Communist Manifesto’ in 1848 – the blueprint for future communist regimes based on Materialism, ‘Dialectics’ (development thru conflict) and racial superiority.

Engels: “Darwin is splendid!” and published an article:                                                    
‘The Part Played by Labour in the Transition from Ape to Man.’                                                                        

Marx:  “This is the book which contains the basis in natural history for our view.” “Darwin’s work is most important and suits my purpose in that it provides a basis in natural science for the historical class struggle….Despite all shortcomings, it is here that, for the first time, teleology (design for a purpose) in natural science is not only dealt a mortal blow but its rational meaning is empirically explained.”

Koncordie Amelie Dietrich (1821-1891), ‘the angel of black death’ was a German eugenicist who spent 10 years in Australia ‘arranging specimens’ of aborigines.

Leon Trotsky (Lev Davidovich Bronshtein 1879-1940) was born to Jewish parents but reinvented himself to become founder of Russia's Red Army.

"Darwin's discovery is the highest triumph in the whole field of organic matter."

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) a lawyer who led the world’s first communist uprising of Bolsheviks in October 1917.

Joseph Stalin (‘Man of Steel’ born Iosif Vissarionovich Djugashvili, 1879-1953)  studied to be a priest in the Georgian Orthodox Church but presided over the murder and starvation of millions of his own countrymen.

“There we had to teach (seminary students) the age of the earth, the geological origins and Darwin’s teachings.”

Evolutionists like to distance themselves from the horrors of Nazism under Adolf Hitler but factual history has the final say:
no-one can deny the murder of Jews in the Holocaust, along with Jehovah's Witnesses, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill…. all under the application of ‘Entwicklung’ - in a ‘Christian’ country.                                     

In 1937, Western countries including Australia, USA and Britain refused to accept European Jews en mass before the Holocaust consumed 6 million of them.                                          

Mao Zedong (1893-1976)   “Chinese socialism is founded upon Darwin and the theory of evolution.”

Pol Pot (1925-1998) of the Khmer Rouge presided over the murder of millions of fellow Cambodians.

Other evils of the western world are rooted in the racism found in the ‘theory of evolution’:  colonialism, slavery, and South African Apartheid.

USA and Germany practised eugenics which involves forced sterilization, selective breeding, and euthanasia. Let’s see what that lead to.                                           

Apparently the number of violent deaths has declined in recent years. The weapons are now 'dirtier' or nuclear so nobody is game enough to push mankind’s self- destruct button. Apart from starvation or natural disaster, how else has life been cheapened?

Out of legitimate concern for destitute or abused mothers, Margaret Sanger (1879-1966) founded the Birth Control League in 1921 which became the Planned Parent Federation of America in 1942 but since her death this organisation has identified with the Pro-Choice lobby. Following the Roe vs. Wade case before the Supreme Court of USA in 1973, there are now about 125,000 abortions performed world-wide every day – some ‘full-term’ - with about 6 million so far this year.                           

Now at least 1 inconvenient child loses its right to life every second - day and night!

Here in New South Wales, an unborn wanted baby is now protected by law whereas an unwanted one is just a foetus.  (By the way, a foetus has its own pulse from Day 20.)  Our most vulnerable are now the most disposable - as biomedical waste.

Where did we find this tragic saga began? 

With us Christians either messing with God’s Word at the earliest opportunity – the 11^th word – or else just sitting on the fence rather than upholding the truth.                                                                  

Where does our search trail end?

#5 ABOUT TURN!

This is IOPNA’s 5^th article of 6 in the ‘Missing Link’ series.

 This is my personal story - maybe you will be able to identify with some of it.  Even if you don't claim to be a Christian perhaps this factual trail of evidence we are discovering, by dusting off the 19^th Century, offers food for thought.                                                                

I was brought up in a strict Christian family who valued the Bible and 50 years ago, at the age of 8, I personally dedicated my life to my Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ. Our family was involved in a brethren fellowship that distanced itself from mainstream denominations with their clerical hierarchies, and constantly reminded us that we upheld the teachings of John Nelson Darby (1800-1882).

As high-schoolers we were warned against the teaching of evolution so I was ready to protest if a teacher tried to say that we had evolved from apes.  Never did I hear this taught but what we were taught was the geological time scale or column, with its millions of years.

For years I simply accepted that if scientists want to claim that the Earth is millions (or now billions) of years old that was fine by me - I could easily fit them between verses 1 and 2 of Genesis 1. Whenever I saw people with their heads in Creation magazines I would look on them as 'baby Christians' who needed convincing about that elementary stuff by subscribing to someone’s pet project. That was until I realized that this 'Gap Theory' of millions of years undermines the whole message of salvation for mankind!

After finding myself teaching Scripture in primary school classes to children who aren't sure if God exists, I commenced looking for evidence of God or 'iopnas' around us and sharing them on Facebook, then blogspot. 
We added variety and started to dust off the 19th century to find that the 'millions of years' have their roots in ancient philosophy and were finally endorsed by the Church publicly - and still are!  We are yet to look at the legacy of all this.
So why did I think I could fit something between verses 1 and 2? (...despite the Bible warning us not to add or omit anything!)                                                                                                            

I find that the teachers that I looked up to, such as Darby, also accepted the Gap Theory!

J.N. Darby Collected Writings, Apologetic No.2, Vol 9, p87-115

            "I should not suppose chaos to have been a first creation of God. It looks like the result of some catastrophe. Here all the Orphic, Grecian, and Phoenician cosmogonies begin, and the Romans.....Ante mare et terras et quod tegit omnia coelum, Unu s erat toto naturae vultus in orbe, Quem dixere chaos."

"Scripture, which does not reveal scientific facts, is totally silent as to them, but leaves a gap which may have been filled by millions of years when we were not..."                                                                           

(Actually Scripture does reveal many scientific facts that we are presenting as ‘iopnas’ on our Discovery Safari. We are going to take a look at Genesis 1 soon and will see just how scientific this ‘religious book’ is!)

Well, THERE ARE NO VERSES in the original Hebrew text and THERE IS NO GAP for us to fill – on the contrary the word ‘and’ (Heb:waw) is there to maintain continuity.                                                       

(Remember being taught in primary school that ‘and’ is a joining word?) 
Modern translations have had a field day with that little word: 'and'.                             

Where does that leave me?

• We have Bibles all over the house, written in mostly plain English, but I never got past Genesis 1:1 without meddling with God's Word using human notions, despite the warnings not to (…and I presume to be a Scripture teacher!?)
• I presumed to know what God has not told me, making God a liar for saying that His Creation was 'very good', assuming Adam and Eve were standing over millions of dead animals. 
• My presumption not only undermined the Christian teaching on salvation for mankind but destroyed the credibility of the whole Bible as God’s Word
• I am complicit in the endorsement of 'millions of years' by the Church that gave token credibility and respectability to the 'theories of evolution', so my criticism of 'evolutionary science' is flawed. I must cease scoffing at David Attenborough, Richard Dawkins & co. with their ‘billions of years’.   At least they stand up for what they believe in! 
• I accept responsibility for the awful legacies of evolutionary teaching because I tolerated ‘millions of years’
• I must “About turn!”...and now devote myself to undoing the lies and telling people the truth. 

So help me God.

#4 WHICH MISSING LINK?

This is IOPNA’s 4^th article out of 6 in the ‘Missing Link’ series.

Here is Ota Benga, a Congolese pygmy who was fetched from Africa by Presbyterian minister Samuel Phillips Verner and displayed in an orang-utan’s cage in New York’s Bronx Zoo in 1906.                                                      

Sadly, by age 32 Ota felt he’d had enough and committed suicide.
Can you blame him?                                                   

But is the ‘missing link’ to be found in the jungles of Africa or in the pages of theologians’ Bibles?

                                                  

This ‘Gap Theory’ that was taught in theology lectures at Oxford University – let’s see what it’s about and where it came from.

 

Thomas Chalmers (1780-1847) …

is hailed as Scotland’s greatest 19^th century churchman, being the moderator of the Free Church of Scotland, a university mathematics lecturer and a champion of social causes including education. He popularised the Gap Theory by publishing it in the Bridgewater Treatises in 1814.

The Gap Theory claims that millions of years elapsed between the first two verses of Genesis 1, during which evil forces ruined God’s first attempts at creation, hence fossils, so a reconstruction had to take place.           

How old was young Charlie Darwin when Thomas Chalmers published the Gap Theory? 

A 5 year old in short pants.

Wherever did this idea come from? Well, how far back would you like to go?                         

How about Ancient Greek philosophy – or even earlier.                                                   

We know that scientists have been searching for that elusive 'missing link' in the ‘evolution of Man’, but theologians have had their own 'missing link' for centuries with the Gap Theory, still ‘alive and well’ in Bible seminaries throughout the western world.     

(Doesn’t the Bible warn us in several places not to add anything or delete anything?)             

So what have we found so far?                                                             

Eventually the Church publicly embraced the Gap Theory from ancient philosophy and promoted it to university students who used the ‘millions of years’ to develop the ‘theories of evolution’ from their hobbies of geology and biology.

For instance, the reference Bible published in 1917 by Oxford University Press and edited by Cyrus Ingersoll Scoffield D.D. (1843-1921) supplies this ‘missing link’ between Genesis 1, verses 1 & 2:

“Earth made waste and empty by judgment”                                              

....cross referenced to Jeremiah 4:23-26 where another note is supplied: “Without form and void” (Gen1:2) describes the condition of the earth as the result of the judgment (Is 24:1) which overthrew the primal order of Genesis 1:1.                                                                   

What does all this mean?                                                                    

For the Gap Theory of ‘millions of years’ to be true, not only did God cover up the failure by not telling us the whole story, he must be a liar for claiming His creation was very good while Adam and Eve stood on top of millions of fossils of dead animals and furthermore Christianity’s teaching in Romans 5 about sin and death must be a lie: “…by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned.” In fact, you can’t rely on the Bible now – throw it away! – those preacher guys are lying.

So how many young people have given up their Christian heritage because of this?............ and we wonder why.

#3 WHICH FATHER OF GEOLOGY?

This is IOPNA's 3rd article of 6 in our 'Missing Link' series:

So you’re still with us as we dust off the 19^th Century and earlier, following an obscure trail that takes us through the suspect ‘foundations of modern geology’, towards where?........................ a surprising destination!                

We found that lawyer Charles Lyell (1797-1875) turned his geology hobby into an international success story with his publication ‘Principles of Geology’ 1830, but who did he listen to along the way?

Rev. William Buckland (1784-1856)…

was an amateur geologist/paleontologist who lectured in theology at Oxford University and was appointed Dean of Westminster. One of his students was Charles Lyell. He taught the ‘Gap Theory’ popularised by Thomas Chalmers co-writing the Bridgewater Treatise in 1814. (more on that later)

James Hutton (1726-1797)…

is called the ‘father of modern geology’ but actually he was a doctor of medicine who manufactured chemicals, owned properties including two farm estates, and took an interest in geology as a hobby. He shifted the focus from sedimentation to volcanic upheaval so was known as a ‘Plutonist’.                                                    

His theory of Uniformitarianism in ‘Theory of the Earth’ (1788) that geological processes were the same in the past as they are today, was adopted by Lyell, and can be seen to be deeply rooted in Hutton’s personal philosophy but was rejected by Abraham Werner.

Abraham Gottlieb Werner (1749-1817)…

was a professional mineralogist and taught mining at the renown Bergakademie in Freiberg, Saxony. He was labelled as a ‘Neptunist’ because of his study of stratification of sedimentary rock from global deluge. Since he rejected Hutton’s Uniformitarianism, popular opinion demoted him to ‘father of historical geology’.

Nicholas Steno (born Niels Stenson 1638-1797)…

was another medico with geology as a hobby, who also has been called ‘the father of geology’. A Danish surgeon, he published ‘An Introduction to Rocks’ in 1669 and established the Law of Superposition that describes the horizontal stratification of sedimentary rock. He devoted the remainder of his life to being a Catholic bishop in Italy.   

So it looks as if the ‘millions of years of evolution’ was founded on observations by amateurs interpreting from philosophy, while rejected by professional geology, and you could pick who you wanted to be ‘father of geology’ depending on your point of view!                           

Huh?..this is science???

#2 CAN'T BEAT 'EM?...THEN JOIN 'EM!

This is IOPNA's 2nd article of 6 in our 'Missing Link' series:

We dusted off some 19^thCentury history and found a British theologian cum naturalist named Charles Darwin is being honoured to this day for publishing his racist title 'Origin of Species…’, 28 years after first opening a book titled ‘Principles of Geology’, written by a lawyer whose hobby was geology, namely -

Sir Charles Lyell (1797-1875)…

as a student at Oxford University, attended imaginative lectures by Reverend William Buckland, an amateur geologist, then abandoned his legal career to also pursue this hobby of geology.

‘Principles of Geology’ first published in 1830 is unashamedly based on assumptions and philosophy in order to ‘free the science from Moses’. It led to meteoric recognition and honour for Lyell, with professional appointments, international lecture tours, a knighthood in 1848 - and a baronetcy in 1864!

Through reading philosopher John Playfair, Lyell had learnt of James Hutton and his book, ‘Theory of the Earth’ (1788), which also assumed that geological processes in the past are the same as what is happening today, all it took was millions of years: subsequently relied on by Darwin who needed ‘millions of years’ for his theory in ‘Origin of Species…’.

Lyell was horrified to find his notion of ‘millions of years’ was being linked with theories of evolution from naturalists like Jean-Baptiste Lamarck (1744-1829), by young guns like Alfred Wallace, Charles Darwin and Thomas Huxley, but finally it came down to…….. ‘if you can’t beat ’em – join ‘em!’

#1 DUSTY 19th CENTURY

How about we explore some 19th Century characters in dusty old history?                    

We're not going to 'bag' the dearly departed; we'll just share some factual tid-bits.

Promise you won’t just take our word for it – check the facts for yourself.
Be warned though!....this won't be boring , it may even be life changing for you (like it has been for me).

Can you imagine that?...our lives transformed by dusty old history??

Here goes………

In 1839, a British naval officer named Port Darwin, in Australia's Northern Territory, to honour the British naturalist:

Charles Robert DARWIN (1809 - 1882)

Darwin was born on the same day as…….Abraham Lincoln!
Sunday 12 February 1809.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in theology from Cambridge in 1831.
While travelling on H.M.S. Beagle as an amateur naturalist for 5 years he received Charles Lyell’s ‘Principles of Geology’, first published 1830.

The full title of Darwin's publication in 1859 was:

"On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life."
(the last bit is normally ignored) 

The town was established under South Australian administration as ‘Palmerston’ in 1869 but under federal control reverted to ‘Darwin’ in 1911, only to be flattened by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day 1974.

Mmmm…have we got this straight?...

...a young theologian whose hobby is nature study, devours with relish a book written by a lawyer whose hobby happens to be geology, and then himself writes a racist book and is honoured by having a capital city named after him in a land already inhabited by indigenous people that were rounded up and shot for evolution specimens in European museums ??...and this hero of ‘modern science’ was further honoured with a state funeral and interment beside Sir Isaac Newton in Westminster Abbey??

Meanwhile, three years after Darwin’s book sold out on the first day of publication, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on Thursday, 1 January, 1863 – ‘The Day of Jubilee’ – for African-Americans, not aboriginal Australians under British rule.

By the way, to this day the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution states in Part III, Section 25:

“For the purposes of the last section (membership of the House of Representatives), if by the law of any State all persons of any race are disqualified from voting at elections for the more numerous House of the Parliament of the State, then, in reckoning the number of the people of the State or of the Commonwealth, persons of that race resident in that State shall not be counted.”

Also in Part V, Section 51: "The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws for the peace, order and good government of the Commonwealth with respect to:
(xxvi) the people of any race for whom it is deemed necessary to make special laws."
