Her Majesty's vows

Westminster Cathedral, Tuesday, 2nd June, 1953

The official website of The British Monarchy states that the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, held on Tuesday, 2nd June 1953, bestowed the title: ‘Defender of the Faith’.

The Archbishop of Canterbury asked:
"Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel?..."
Her Majesty responded:
"All this I promise to do" then kneeling at the altar, laid her right hand on the Holy Bible and added: "The things which I have here before promised, I will perform, and keep. So help me God." followed by kissing the Holy Bible and signing of the Oath.
The British Government, led by Prime Minister David Cameron, advertises that on Wednesday 17th July, Royal Assent was given to the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 for England and Wales.

Well let's see what that Holy Bible states, quoting from that which was authorised by His Majesty King James I in 1611:

“…Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh…”  Matthew 19:4 & Genesis 2:24
In other words, the institution of marriage, between a MAN and a ......WOMAN, was established at Creation. (4000 years before the Church)

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” Leviticus 18:22…a summary offence then punishable by death according to chapter 20 verse 13.

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another; men with men working that which is unseemly…” Romans 1:26 on, concluding with:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
Does the Bible teach us that homosexual activity is worthy of God’s blessing in marriage.....or worthy of God’s judgment of death?

Never-mind what opinions you or I might have on this issue, or what King James I and other members of the Royal household might have got up to.....are the Laws of God being upheld?

  1. On Thursday 12 December, the High Court of Australia unanimously ruled that the same-sex marriage laws enacted by the Australian Capital Territory were unconstitutional being incompatible with the Commonwealth Marriage Act.
